The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is a popular product online, but does this mask actually work as the reviews say it does?

Our Aztec Clay Mask Review

aztec secret indian healing clay

I purchased the Aztec Clay Mask ourselves to see how powerful the possible effects are. This product also interested me because I already take bentonite orally and have found it helps with digestion and detoxification. I have never given myself a clay beauty facial before so I was eager to try it out as I do everything I humanly can for truly clear skin.

What is Calcium Bentonite?

Bentonite clay is formed from volcanic ash which contains minerals which are beneficial to our health. It also has the ability to create an electrical charge when it comes in contact with liquid which pulls toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals from the body. (1)

There are four types of Bentonite Clay include calcium, sodium, magnesium, and potassium. The most commonly marketed forms are calcium and sodium. Bentonite clay is also called Montmorillonite as this is the region in France where it was first found. (2)

Bentonite deposits are found worldwide wherever volcanic eruptions have taken place and preservation of the ash has exceeded erosion. Ten billion tons of bentonite are mined worldwide each year with about 35% produced in the western United States (primarily Wyoming). The second largest producer of bentonite is Greece. (3)

Both forms of bentonite clay are beneficial for detoxification and can be ingested as well, but calcium bentonite is known as more of the "healing clay". (4)

Aztec Secret Indian Healing clay is from Death Valley, California. For up to 6 months it is dried in the sun in temperatures that reach 134 degrees Fahrenheit. It is one of the hottest places in the world.

What Does it Look Like?

The Aztec Secret Bentonite Clay is a gray/green color. It is soft, has a velvety feel, and is odorless. When mixing with water it can be a bit clumpy so you must mix it for a while until it forms a clay.

Before and After- What Does A Clay Mask Do to Your Face?

Within 5 minutes of applying the clay mask my face felt tight and it was actually hard open my mouth! It is one of the world's powerful facial for a reason. The stronger and tighter the hold of the clay the more it is pulling out toxins from the body.

I washed off the face mask because it started to itch and I have sensitive skin so I did not want to leave it on too long. This is why it is important to patch test first to avoid irritation.

I noticed that after removing the mask my skin felt super soft and smooth. It was definitely softer than before I applied it. I also noticed that some redness I was experiencing before applying the mask had diminished. I can see why people love this pore cleansing powder for oily skin.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Reviews

The clay mask is popular on Amazon as it has over 17,000 reviews with a star rating of 4.4. Below is the top critical and top positive Aztec Indian healing clay review.

PLEASE PATCH TEST!

I really wanted to wait and do a review after a few months of use, since that is generally how long it takes acne medications to work well, but I'm terrified to put this stuff back on my face. The first time I used it, was with water and it didn't really do anything. I tried it the second time with raw ACV (which makes it blend better and creates a nice muddy mousse). I used it three times with raw ACV, with a few days in between each use, and my skin got worse every single time. A new pimple would form after every single use. During one use, a pimple had formed while the mask was still on my face. Luckily I patch tested, so the break out is only on part of my face, but my face hasn't been this bad in years. I went from having skin that generally had one or two pimples, to six active PAINFULL pimples after only two weeks of using this. Many people would attribute my breakout to purging, but I've dealt with purging before and it has never been like this. In regard to its ability to remove blackheads I was disappointed, Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask works way better.

The only good thing about this is that if you already have a pimple, and only use it on that same spot, it will help it come to a head much faster.

For those like me who read skin care product reviews, and like to know the users skin type, I have combination skin and hormonal breakouts only around my mouth. I drink lots of water and am a vegetarian who doesn't drink milk or eat cheese (for those who believe diet effects skin).

Whoa! Like Turning Your Face to Stone.

Whoa! Pretty easy to use, Takes longer to wash it off than putting it on! Left my face feeling great, skin was red for a good 30mins, but that went away and left my skin in the best shape its ever been.

How To Use

Mix clay with equal parts of raw apple cider vinegar and/or water. If you have sensitive skin I would not add much ACV because it can irritate the skin if not diluted properly.

Then use a non-metal bowl and utensil to stir the mixture well into a paste. Add more clay or liquid as needed and then apply to a clean face.

How Long do You Keep Aztec Clay Mask On?

Apply 1/8in to 1/4in of the paste to the face or other area and let it dry for 5-10 minutes for delicate skin and 15-20 min for normal skin. The clay will give your skin a pulling and tightening sensation.

You could use the Aztec clay mask every day, but for sensitive skin two or three times a week is probably the best way to use it to avoid irritation.

How Do I Get a Clay Mask Off?

You do not need to use soap or a cleanser as it comes off simply by washing your face with warm water.

Can You Use This on Your Hair?

An customer review on Amazon said they used the Aztec Secret Indian Clay on their hair and it pulled out excess oil. The electrically charged ions in Bentonite clay can also help to pull out impurities left over from hair products like hair spray and conditioner.

We think this is a good product to use to help eliminate toxins from the skin, diminish blemishes, and reduce acne. It is worth adding it into your skincare routine and may even allow makeup to adhere better to the skin.

The benefits outweigh the cons, but it is important to know that even with natural products there could be side effects in some people. We do recommend that you try this product.

UPDATE: MARCH 2019

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay reviews continue to show that it is a quality product worth looking into. It does take an investment of time to use though which is why it is worth looking into a natural skin supplement like Acnetame. It is only a matter of time before we don’t have time to use a mask or we can forget to bring it with. Masks also don’t work from the inside out like a natural oral supplement does.
