clearzine review

Clearzine reviews can be found on the web, but does it really work?

The ClearZine acne treatment pill may be an oral solution for helping to reduce inflammation, balance hormones, and build healthy skin cells to facilitate in the control of breakouts.

Here's what you have to know about ClearZine reviews, ingredients, side effects, and results and if they are the best vitamins for clear skin.

How Does ClearZine Work?

This supplement works by reducing sebum production which is the oil that our skin naturally makes to keep itself lubricated.

Too much sebum may lead to blackheads, cysts, and blemishes. This product may help to lower the production of sebum without making your skin too dry.

Other ingredients in this stack also have antioxidant properties which help protect skin cells from damage.

Many people ask if ClearZine is legit and produces results as the company claims the supplement can help you cope with breakouts, reduce oily skin, and lesson the appearance of acne scars.

It can be used by adult men and women as well as teenagers who are experiencing symptoms of breakouts. Unfortunately this has not been the best option in our search for best acne pills.

Dosage and How to Take It

The dosage is 1 capsule per day and there are 90 capsules in a bottle.

The Amazon listing nor company website in 2021 explains how many you should take per day.

Previously when we first wrote this review the ClearZine instructions said to start with 5 capsules a day for best results until face acne clears. It is suggested to take the pill for acne spaced our throughout the day for best treatment of breakouts.

Since I don't have severe acne just a few minor break outs here and there, I started with the dosage of 1 capsule of ClearZine. How many a day depends on the severity of your acne.

On the first day of taking this supplement I had a small pimple under my lip that was barely visible. This pimple was caused by an increase in hormones which is one factor that this supplement is marketed for.

The following morning I woke up with a known side effect of increased acne as I noticed two tiny zits on my nose and the pimple under my lip had gotten more red.

I increased the dose that night to 3 capsules to see if it would have a greater effect on my skin. I also applied a topical benzoyl peroxide cream to all three pimples.

On the 3rd day when I woke up a noticed that the tiny two pimples on my nose had completely gone away, but the one under my lip was still there. There was no change in the redness or size.

I can not be sure if the acne supplement or benzoyl peroxide cleared up the two pimples or if both of them used in conjunction helped clear them up. That night I increased the dose again to 4 capsules.

On the 4th day I woke up with a new tiny pimple between my eyes and one above my eyebrow. The pimple under my lip again had no change in size or redness. I was still continuing to use the over the counter benzoyl peroxide medication as well.

After day 6 I decided to stop taking the supplement as it was making my skin worse and I did not feel the ingredients in the stack were clearing my skin.

During these few days of taking it I was experiencing more hormones throughout my body so I can not be sure if it was the hormones or if I was breaking out because of ClearZine. Does it work?

I saw a minimal change and it helped a bit, but not enough to continue taking the product as I did not want to deal with any more side effects of increased breakouts.

People wonder about ClearZine FDA approval, but supplements do not need prior testing for approval unlike drugs.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Increased acne and possible hair loss have been reported. Some reviewers on Amazon said that they experienced more acne when taking ClearZine.

Good hygiene and diet also play a role in the development of pimples which also needs to be taken into account when searching for a treatment for pimples. Side effects from this product may not affect every one.

Other side effects of ClearZine include possible hair loss which may be contributed to the imbalance of vitamin B5 and Biotin.

It is important to read labels, warnings, and follow directions before taking this product to ensure that you don't have any side effects or other problems. If you experience any severe side effects consult a dermatologist doctor immediately.

There are 8 total active ingredients in the ClearZine acne solution. These are the ClearZine acne pill ingredients in depth and how they work in this product to help breakouts.

Vitamin B5

This ingredient is added into many acne supplements on the market as it powerful at slowing down the production of sebum. Sebum is the oil that is secreted from our glands which is a natural lubrication for our skin. It helps keep it from becoming too dry, but over-production of sebum can make the skin too oily.

Biotin

Biotin is a water soluble vitamin which can help our hair, nails, and skin grow. You can't really take too much of Biotin since it is water soluble and any excess that the body does not use will be excreted out through the urine.

Since the body does not store this vitamin, some people may be at risk for deficiency like those who have been taking antibiotics for a long period of time or people with digestive problems like Crohn's disease. Deficiency of Biotin can lead to hair loss, dry skin, muscle aches, and fatigue. (1)

Chromium

Chromium helps lower blood sugar which will help combat numerous hormonal problems including acne especially for those who are insulin resistant.

When Chromium is combined with Biotin it has an even stronger effect of lowering blood sugar which can be helpful for diabetics. (2)

Horsetail Extract

Horsetail has a few uses which may help skin appearance. It is used as a diuretic which helps eliminate excess water from the body, it has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and it also contains numerous nutrients including calcium, manganese, and fatty acids. (3)

Horsetail may also help with brittle nails, bronchitis, and increasing hair growth because of the high amount of silica. You may know of silica by those tiny little packs found in certain products to help absorb moisture. It is a chemical compound which is found almost everywhere like in foods, plants, and rocks. It has positive effects on hair, skin and nails (4) and may also counteract side effects caused by aluminum in the body.

Witch Hazel Leaf

Witch hazel has been used as a natural remedy for various skin concerns like burns, mosquito bites, and inflammatory issues like pimples as it is an astringent which helps to kill bacteria and tighten up pores.

It contains tannins or polyphenols which belong to a group of antioxidant compounds called catechins. Catechins help to protect the skin against free radicals and other external damage that the skin may experience from the sun, smoking, or pollution.

Selenium

Selenium has antioxidant properties which help to protect healthy skin cells against oxidation or damage. When taken in conjunction with other antioxidants, Selenium increases their effectiveness to help reduce inflammation throughout the body as one main factor of breakouts is inflammation.

Zinc

Zinc is another antioxidant which helps our skin stay healthy. It can help reduce inflammation throughout which in turn may help reduce breakouts.

Zinc may increase testosterone in some people though which may exacerbate pimples. Acne is caused by an increase in androgens and testosterone is an androgen.

CO-Q10

CoEnzyme Q10 also has antioxidant properties which work best with the other antioxidants in this stack. It is also needed for many important functions in the body like producing energy as it is found in almost every cell in our bodies.

Low Co-Q10 levels may result in the body's ability to produce collagen which helps keep our skin strong and prevents early signs of aging like wrinkles. (5)

Co-Q10 can be lowered in the body if you are stressed or if you are simply growing older.

Collagen

This ingredient used to be part of the supplement stack, but they took it out and replaced it with Horsetail.

Collagen is important for our skin as it gives it elasticity, helps repair and grow new skin cells, as well as prevents wrinkles. Our body's natural ability to produce collagen slows down as we age which is why when we age we get more wrinkles and fine lines.

This collagen study showed that women between the ages of 35-55 who used collagen daily for 8 weeks showed an increase in skin elasticity and their skin was not as dry.

I think that it was a smart decision to take the collagen out as you need to take a lot of it to actually get effects from it and it was only added into the stack at 20 mg.

ClearZine and Pregnancy

Before taking any supplement while pregnant you must consult with your doctor to ensure that any ingredient will not interfere with the development of the baby.

Any person including pregnant and breastfeeding women can experience vitamin toxicity when taking high doses of vitamin A, B6, C, D or Niacin, but none of these vitamins are included in ClearZine.

VITAMIN B5- 6mg
Pantothenic acid is added into many prenatal vitamin stacks because it is an essential vitamin which plays a role in the metabolizing of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.

It is found in many foods like sunflower seeds, avocado, and chicken and many women do not need to supplement it because they are already receiving enough through their diet.

BIOTIN- 30 mcg
Biotin is another part of the group of B-vitamins which is also added into prenatal vitamins because of its effect on different functions in the body that helps our overall health.

Pregnant women may be deficient in this vitamin because during this time the body breaks down biotin more quickly. Some side effects of biotin deficiency include hair loss, rashes, and depression (6).

If it is already in your prenatal vitamin and if you are already consuming it through foods like nuts, vegetables, meat, and fish then you should intake a higher dose without consulting with your doctor.

CHROMIUM- 30 mcg
Chromium is a mineral that helps with the breakdown of fats, carbs, and protein in the body. It helps lower insulin levels which is important for diabetics and women who become diabetic during pregnancy which is called gestational diabetes (7).

This mineral is also included in prenatal vitamins and should not be supplemented otherwise as it will exceed the daily dose and could be dangerous.

Chromium is found in foods like beef, turkey, and broccoli.

SELENIUM- 60 mcg
Selenium is an antioxidant and is used to support our thyroid which keeps our metabolism running properly. It is a mineral which is found in many foods that we eat including seafood, lean meats, nuts, and seeds.

This mineral is actually important during pregnancy as low levels may be associated with pre-eclampsia which is a complication that causes high blood pressure, damage to the kidneys, and reduced blood flow to the placenta (8).

This study confirms that low levels of selenium may be associated with pre-eclampsia.

ZINC- 11-15 mg
Zinc is needed during pregnancy to help develop the embryo and fetus. Low amounts of zinc have also been linked to lower birth weights and other problems during pregnancy.

This mineral has also been shown to reduce the risk of pre-mature pregnancy (9).

Some food sources of zinc include beef, turkey, and cashews.

CO-Q10- 100-200 mg
There is a lack of evidence showing the effects of Co-Q10 in pregnant women, but it is likely safe to take as it is naturally found in breast milk, however it is a fat-soluble vitamin so taking too much of it can become harmful because it gets stored in fat tissue (10).

It can also help your chances of getting pregnant as it increases fertility in both men and women and helps women with PCOS conceive.

WITCH HAZEL
As a rule of thumb it is not recommended to take herbal remedies orally when pregnant without consulting with a doctor. This goes for Witch Hazel as well as there is a lack of studies showing the effects on pregnant women when ingested.

There are medicated wipes containing Witch Hazel that can be used topically for constipation and hemorrhoids which sometimes occurs in pregnant women.

HORSETAIL
Horsetail is also an herbal remedy and should be avoided when pregnant or nursing as it contains low amounts of nicotine. Horsetail is also not recommended for children for this reason.

Please be aware that taking supplements while pregnant may have an adverse effect on the fetus. We can not give medical advice, but for this reason we do not recommend taking nutritional supplements during pregnancy other than what your professional doctor allows.

Can I Take ClearZine for Cystic Acne?

Some people have used ClearZine for acne that is caused by bacteria and some have used ClearZine for hormonal acne like cysts.

The ingredients may help balance hormones and reduce sebum production which is a factor in both types of breakouts.

Clearzine vs Acnepril

Many people wonder whether they should take ClearZine or Acnepril. Below is a comparison of both products.

Product

Pill Description

Dosage

Efficacy

ClearZine

Smaller than Acnepril. White in color.

1 capsule 1-5x daily

ClearZine contains ingredients which are more specifically formulated for acne.

Acnepril

Larger than ClearZine. Light brown in color.

2 capsules 2x daily

Contains ingredients which may be helpful for overall skin health, but not specifically formulated for acne.

ClearZine Vs Accutane

We prefer not to compare supplements and drugs as one is available over the counter and the latter is available only by prescription.

Please consult your doctor about these types of questions if you are interested.

Pros & Cons

I think ClearZine acne solution pills are a slightly better formulation than Murad and Acnepril.

Is ClearZine effective? The ingredients do have studies backing their effectiveness, but they are added in at a very low dose and the user may only see results when taking a higher dosage.

A person may benefit from Clear Zine usage when taken 3-4 times the dosage in order to get results from this supplement.

Pros:

  • Affordable price
  • Somewhat effective ingredients
  • Small, easy to swallow capsules

Cons:

  • Not enough mg for ingredients to be effective for acne
  • 4 pills daily goes fast, bottle does not last long, becomes expensive
  • Online reviews may not be reliable

CONCLUSION: Is ClearZine a Scam or Does it Actually Work?

Some people will get some results from this supplement, but I don't think that people should expect drastic results with the ingredients although some people could get that as the ingredients are effective. The ClearZine acne pill may also give side effects to some people.

It is not a solution for acne scars or rosacea and ClearZine not working for some is a reality. If ClearZine doesn't work for you it may be because of the low dose of ingredients as well as other factors like diet, water consumption, and personal hygiene which are important for clear skin.
