Acnease Review- Does it Cause Side Effects? UPDATED 2023

AcnEase reviews are on the net, but does this acne supplement work?

This review is about the AcnEase Botanical Mild Acne Treatment. This is the product that should best suit my skin type as I do not have much acne, but when I do experience acne from hormonal fluctuations I would characterize it as mild.

You will see in this review if you can take AcnEase for hormonal acne.

Where To Buy Acnease

You can buy the AcnEase supplement from their website, Amazon, and eBay. It used to be for sale on the Walmart Marketplace website, but now it is not available.

This product can be shipped to France, Canada, UK, Ireland, Mexico, Philippines, and USA.

You can also buy AcnEase on Amazon UK, but they only sell a one bottle of the AcnEase Acne Maintenance Treatment.

If you're looking for an acne pill in Germany or NL check out Blemless.

Price

The price for the AcnEase Mild Acne Treatment is $79 + $10.55 shipping via USPS priority. The reason why it is so expensive is because it is a three pack.

The price for the same package on Amazon is $85 plus free shipping, but it is not Prime.

I did not have an AcnEase coupon code so I purchased the product at full price from Amazon.

Shipping and Customer Service

There was an 11 day delivery window which in my opinion is a long time to receive a product within the United States even with it not being Prime. Unfortunately I could not track my order because there as no tracking information provided. I did not receive my order within the allotted time so I contacted the seller Herborium to let them know about the issue.

I was pleased with their customer service as they replied to me within 24 hours and said that as they look into the issue for me they would send out the package again as well as a free bottle. I received my new package and the free bottle about 4 days after they sent it out.

*UPDATE

I returned my bottles because the pills made my forehead break out. Before I started taking the pills I did not have acne. I paid for shipping and sent screenshots to the customer service representative that the package was paid for and shipped via Stamps.com, but still only received a partial refund. This product is very expensive and I only received half of my money back. It is unfortunate that they do not care about the well-being of the customer. Bad enough in not getting the clear skin vitamins I wanted, but to also get money stolen is unfortunate.

What Other Products Do They Offer?

Acnease and Rosacea

There are two other products that are sold by this company that are marketed to help rosacea as well.

-Rosacea Symptoms Treatment

-Maintenance Treatment for Acne and Rosacea

Rosacea and acne are both inflammatory issues, but they are not the same. Rosacea.org says:

The two disorders require different treatment, however, and acne medications may cause rosacea symptoms to get worse. A general rule of thumb in distinguishing between subtype 2 rosacea and acne vulgaris is that blackheads (comedones) occur only in acne, while only rosacea involves persistent redness and flushing.

A single bottle is only available for the AcnEase Acne Maintenance Treatment for Acne and Rosacea and the AcnEase rosacea control treatment is only available in multiple bottle packs.

When I started doing research about this product I noticed that there was an AcnEase acne clearing gel, but this AcnEase gel is actually produced by another company called Finn Cosmetics who uses the same brand name. Finn Cosmetics also makes an AcnEase body acne spray.

I did not find any information about this product on the actual AcnEase website so I do not believe they are related except the same name.

Refund Policy

If you buy this supplement from Amazon and you are not satisfied with your results, you may be eligible for a refund, but you will have to pay for shipping yourself to send it back to them for a refund.

If you purchase it from their website you are eligible for a refund within 60 days whether the bottles are opened or not, but you must send back all of the bottles. You will also have to pay for shipping yourself.

They do not offer refunds for the AcnEase 1 bottle purchases because one bottle may not provide a sufficient amount of time to show an improvement in skin for a person who is using it for the first time.

AcnEase Dosage

As stated on the bottle the AcnEase dose is four tablets a day, but on the sheet of paper that was included in my order it says to take four tablets 3 times a day which totals to 12 tablets daily.

acnease tablets

This dose may not be realistic for most people as 12 pills is a lot to take and can be a hassle to remember to take throughout the day. I have not read anywhere about taking all 12 tablets at once, but many people have trouble swallowing pills to begin with so that may not be an option for most people.

The AcnEase tablets are the smallest of all the acne supplements that we have reviewed and are easy to swallow even though you have to take four at a time.

AcnEase Results - What Did I Experience?

I took these tablets during hormonal fluctuations that were occurring in my body. During this time I tend to have more oily skin that normal and may also break out with one or two tiny pimples on my forehead.

The company says that men and women will benefit from their product if they have hormonal acne, but I found that to not be the case as the following day after taking my first dose of my forehead erupted with tiny red bumps from AcnEase. Oily skin was still the same as well.

After continuing the product for another week I still had the same side effects as I did not see any decrease in oily skin or acne as the breakouts actually got worse.

AcnEase Reviews Online

When I bought the AcnEase herbal supplement from Amazon there were only 8 reviews with a star count of 4 out of 5. This was for the 3 bottle package as that was the cheapest that they offered.

Most Critical Acnease Review

PriAmazon Verifed Customer

I didn't mind spending the money on this product if it lived up to what it claimed. Instead of using the 1-month, 3 bottle regimen, I use each bottle as a maintenece treatment. It worked beautifully for a few months and I was in shock of how nice my skin was because I usually get small cystic pimples and it's purely from my diet and lifestyle (stress). It really worked at controlling this. Now I'm on my 6th bottle and I'm breaking out like crazy. Yes I've been stressed but this claims to help and it's not anymore. I have a lot of cysts coming back and I'm very displeased at the shirt lived effects of this product. For the price, I expected so much better. My acne is not and has never been severe so this should have worked. My skin isn't as oily anymore which is good but the ultimate thing is it should control my acne and it no longer can.

Two out of the eight Amazon AcnEase product reviews are unverified and they are both 5 stars so they could be untrustworthy. I do not take unverified customer reviews into account when contemplating buying a product as you do not know if they are real or not.

Some people look for AcnEase reviews on Makeup Alley which is a website that reviews makeup and skin care products, but I did not find any reviews on this site.

Another customer review site that features AcnEase is acne.org. The majority of the 9 reviewers have said that they had a good experience with the product and overall they are happy with AcnEase. Bad reviews only make up a small fraction of the total reviews. I did find a thread on acne.org about a person having a bad experience with the product and company as well which you can read here.

AcnEase Side Effects

The side effects that have been mentioned in AcnEase customer reviews are:

  • Lack of positive effects on the skin.
  • Effects are short lived as acne and cysts may come back.
  •  May cause upset stomach if taken without food.
  •  Breakouts may become worse.
  •  The herbal ingredients may cause frequent trips to the restroom.
  • May cause headaches in some people when taking for a prolonged period of time. This may be caused by the person not being hydrated enough as this supplement has diuretic properties.

Warnings and Problems

To avoid problems like the ones stated above, make sure to read all labels, warnings, and directions before consuming the product. Also be aware that there are possible side effects associated with all supplements.

AcnEase Ingredients

The ingredients are a proprietary blend of herbs equalling to 2000mg per serving.

The FDA mandates that the amounts of each ingredient in a product are listed on its label except if it is part of a proprietary blend which means that only the total amount needs to be listed, not the amount of each specific ingredient.

Gardenia Fruit (fructus gardeniae)

This ingredient has been used as an herbal remedy in Chinese medicine to help detoxify the body by having a diuretic effect which helps removes toxins and bacteria. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which may help acne in that breakouts are caused by inflammatory issues.

Houttuynia (Herba Houttuyniae)

This Chinese medicine also helps removes toxins from the body as it is primarily used to relieve infections because of it's antiviral and antibacterial properties. It may also help with weight loss as well. (1)

Scierotium (Poriae Cocos)

This is a mushroom that has been long used in China for it's medicinal properties such as aiding in digestion as well as antibacterial and diuretic effects.

Dandelion (Herba Taraxaei)

Dandelion is a well known herb for flushing excess water out of the body. Water retention can be caused by certain medications and sodium-rich foods. It is not good for our bodies to hold excess water as it causes swelling in our hands, stomach, and ankles.

Holding too much water in our bodies will also mean that the bacteria trapped in our pores may cause acne as it is not being excreted.

Balsam Pear

Balsam pear is actually not even a pear, it is a gourd which is more commonly known as Bitter Melon. Although it has a very strong and pungent smell, it has many beneficial effects for our body.

It is known medicinally to help numerous digestive issues such as bloating, flatulence, and constipation. (2)

It also contains a high amount of Vitamin C which is important for a healthy immune system. Boosting our immune system can actually help our skin as we will be able to fight bacteria and balance our hormones.

Mustard Leaf

This is a vegetable in the same family as broccoli and cabbage. It is also commonly known as mustard greens. The entire plant is edible including seeds as that is what the condiment is made from.

Mustard is a great source of minerals include phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and also contains a high amount of Vitamin A which is a staple ingredient in anti-aging and acne products.

Other Ingredients:

Cornstarch

25mg per tablet. It is used to enable tablet compression meaning it pushes the ingredients together to fit in the tablet.

Dextrin (vegetable based)

The tablets are coated with dextrin as it is used as a thickening agent. Vegetable based dextrin is made using starchy vegetables like corn, potato, arrowroot, tapioca, and rice. (3)

The tablets are 100% plant based as they do not contain animal products or derivatives. They also do not contain sugar, dairy, gluten, or phytoestrogens so it is approved for vegan and vegetarian diets.

Phytoestrogens naturally occur in plants as a defense against herbivores (animals that feed on plants) so that the animals do not come back and eat them. (4)

Phytoestrogens act as both estrogenic and anti-estrogenic which is why there is a lot of controversy about if they are healthy for the body or not.

AcnEase Studies - Does It Work?

There are no studies about AcnEase on the internet except a clinical trial that is on their website which explains how it is possibly effective for not just acne, but also for improvement in rosacea (specifically facial flushing) and also gastrointestinal issues. These claims can not be substantiated off their website.

Can I Take AcnEase While Pregnant?

Supplements of any kind should not be taken during pregnancy without the consent of your physician. Herbal supplements in specific do not have many studies backing their effectiveness so it is unclear how the body will react to those ingredients.

About the Company: Herborium Inc.

All of their social media except their YouTube page is up to date as they post as frequently as once a day and provides helpful information about tips and tricks that we can use to help breakouts and clear skin. The YouTube has good quality videos, but are about 2 or 3 years old.

There aren't any AcnEase before and after images on Amazon or acne.org, but some may be found on their social media.

CONCLUSION: IS ACNEASE A SCAM AND IS IT SAFE?

AcnEase claims to have a 96% success rate which is something to be skeptical about and although I wouldn't say they are a total scam, I would be weary of companies that embellish their claims to such an extreme level.

Not every supplement is going to work perfectly for everyone and it is recommended to do thorough researching before purchasing a product. There also aren't many specific studies backing the effectiveness of these ingredients on hormonal acne and other skin issues.

If you think you will look fantastic with AcnEase that is probably unrealistic as we need to do more than just take tablets for our skin. It is important to eat a healthy diet that is low in sugar and dairy as these foods are common factors in fluctuating our hormones and producing pimples.
