Acnutrol for acne reviews are found online, but can it give you clear skin support or do the ingredients cause side effects?
Our Acnutrol Designs for Health review covers the benefits, ingredients, and side effects so you can make an informed decision if this supplement is right for you.
What is Acnutrol?
Acnutrol by Designs for Health is an over the counter supplement for overall skin support. It can be taken by adult men and women as well as teens. Clear face people and all other skin types can take this supplement.
The benefits of Acnutrol include:
- Balancing sebum production.
- Helps skin cell turnover.
- Provides antioxidant effects for healthy skin.
- Acnutrol for hair growth may also be a benefit of this supplement.
Designs for Health prices of Acnutrol are quite expensive at almost $50 a bottle. Although there are 180 capsules in a bottle the serving size is 6 capsules a day which would only last you 30 days.
Acnutrol Ingredients
Vitamin A- May is an anti pimple ingredient and prevents lesions that arise from hair follicles that become infected from too much oil production.
There are 50,000 IU of Vitamin A in the Acnutrol capsules. This sounds like a lot and indeed at high doses this vitamin could be dangerous, however it is added into the stack at a safe dose.
Vitamin D- Vitamin D has powerful benefits for overall health. We all know we can obtain vitamin D from the sun's UV rays, but it is very hard to get the necessary amount through food alone.
Supplementing this vitamin can be more beneficial especially if we don't get enough sun throughout the year. At 2,000 IU this amount may be on the lower side for positive benefits.
Vitamin E- From our research 18 IU seems a bit low for having positive skin effects. For positive effects on the skin usually a higher dose (between 400 IU - 100 IU) is taken.

Niacin- Niacin is also known as vitamin B3 and is an essential nutrient for humans.
Niacinimide is the form of B3 for skin health and helps increase the circulation within our body. Because of this it allows important nutrients to be transferred to organs including our skin.
In addition, it acts as an antioxidant which protects against free radicals and toxins. There is 500 mg of Niacin in each serving.
Vitamin B6- B6 is essential for the metabolism of protein which helps the turn-over of new skin cells. It may also help reduce oil production in the skin.
Acnutrol contains 50 mg of the vitamin which could be an effective dose for acne.
Biotin- 500 mcg of Biotin may help the regeneration of skin cells and helps hair and nail growth. It is an all around effective ingredient for skin health.
Pantothenic Acid- There are 2500 mg of Vitamin B5 in the stack. Studies have shown it helps reduce acne infections, oily skin, and overall skin inflammation in high dose.
Zinc- 50 mg of Zinc could help balance hormones and enhance collagen production. Unfortunately for some people zinc may actually cause acne as it increases testosterone (the main androgen responsible for breakouts).
Selenium- 100 mcg is important for antioxidant effects which are needed to reduce and prevent pimples.
Copper- 2 mg of Copper is added to the capsules. Copper contains a peptide in GHK which reduces inflammation.
Chromium- 400 mcg may help keep our immune system boosted which is a factor in the development of breakouts.
L-Carnitine- 500 mg may provide antioxidant effects needed for healthy skin.
High Gamma Mixed Tocopherols- 120 mg
When you buy a supplement that's advertised as "mixed tocopherols you're purchasing a picture of several different types of vitamin E. (1)
Mixed tocopherols are fat soluble vitamins which in high doses could cause side effects. We are unsure why there is vitamin E as well as mixed tocopherols added to the stack.
How To Use
The serving size is quite large at 6 capsules per serving. There are 180 capsules in a bottle which is 30 servings per container.
Unfortunately there may be some customers who have a problem taking this number of capsules per day and may not be realistic for some.

Acnutrol Reviews
There aren't many Acnutrol reviews on Amazon as there are only 70 in total.
We have read that most people take Acnutrol for acne and cystic acne and they take 5-6 pills daily to achieve this.
We have also read that the product may not work for some people and side effects such as dryness and muscle aches have been reported.
There are a few Acnutrol reddit threads mentioning they take it like a multivitamin, but can't contribute their clear skin specifically to the supplement alone.
Other Designs for Health Products
There use to be an Acnutrol gel which was used topically in conjunction with the acne pills, but the gel has since been discontinued.
HSN Complete is another capsule that is sold by this company consisting of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. H-S-N Complete is said to help the health of nail, skin, and hair.

A couple of downfalls about Acnutrol is the price is expensive and you must take 5-6 pills daily to get the desired results you are hoping for.
